Swan Island Dahlias

This past week we found yet another flower field to visit! Situated about 35 minutes south of Portland in Canby, the #SwanIslandDahlias were stunningly beautiful. We managed to have a picture-perfect, blue-sky day as we ventured down from Portland to the #flowers where we spent the majority of the morning looking at each of the dahlia varieties, playing in the dirt, and watching the white and orange koi fish in the pond. What a morning well spent!

Each year, Swan Island Dahlias hosts it's Dahlia Festival the weekend before and of Labor Day (August 24th-26th and August 31st-September 2nd). With over 40-acres of blooming dahlias of every color and variety, this annual festival is definitely not one to be missed. To beat the crowds and to get a sneak peek, we decided to visit the flower fields early - Swan Island Dahlias is open seven days a week now through September (8AM-6PM). Though we've never been, this annual festival sounds promising - live music, food trucks, fresh-cut flowers for purchase and other family fun all with a spectacular and colorful backdrop.

After meandering through the fields, taking pictures and getting some dirt on your shoes, be sure to stop in the shade and have a picnic! There are ample amounts of picnic benches for you to sit and enjoy the view. As you leave, be sure to grab a bouquet of fresh-cut dahlias in their flower bar. These beauties will remind you of your time spent amongst the flowers each time you spy them on your kitchen table.

Be sure to stop by and say hi to the koi fish on your way out! These were a huge hit with the toddlers!
