I'm not sure about you, but a perfect fall Saturday morning would include a hand-crafted latte, a pumpkin muffin and a trip to a farmer's market. Not sure what it is about walking through the rows of local berries and tomatoes, cheeses and flowers, that creates some magic for me. I always find the inspiration to not only eat more healthfully but to support local farms and vendors by buying locally. One thing I always try to do before going to the farmer's market is to have a meal plan ready for the upcoming week in hand so I have a specific list to shop for. Otherwise I find myself buying fruits and vegetables that tend to go to waste sitting in my fridge or on my counter.

One of our favorite farmer's markets in the Portland metro area is Portland State's Saturday Market that is held year round on the downtown campus. With over 100 vendors selling local produce, products and fresh food, there's a little something for everyone.
